Equipment

  • Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Saucepan

Ingredients

  • Water ¼ cup
  • Brown sugar 3 tablespoon
  • Rice vinegar 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce (light, regular) 1 tablespoon
  • Cornstarch 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil (toasted) 1 teaspoon
  • Chili flakes (or more) ½ teaspoon
  • Ginger powder ¼ teaspoon
  • Garlic cloves (minced) 2

Instructions

  • Mix together water, brown sugar, rice vinegar, soy sauce, cornstarch, toasted sesame oil, chili flakes, ginger powder, minced garlic, and in a small bowl until well combined and free of lumps.
  • Transfer the mixture to a pan and heat it while stirring until it starts boiling. Reduce the heat and continue simmering and stirring until the sauce thickens to the consistency you prefer.
  • Take the pan off the heat and let the sauce cool down before transferring it to a storage container.
  • Drizzle the sauce over your freshly made Asian zing chicken wings. Enjoy!

Notes

  • You can customize the heat level according to your preference by adding or reducing the amount of chili flakes.
  • In case you have a preference for a sauce with a sweeter taste, you can add extra brown sugar or any other sweetening agent of your choice.
  • If the sauce happens to be too thick, you can make it thinner by adding a small amount of water.
