Equipment

  • A medium-sized pot
  • A whisk
  • A kitchen knife
  • A cutting board
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • A strainer
  • A serving bowl

Ingredients

  • Unsalted butter 1 cup
  • Onion (diced) 1 large
  • Bulb garlic (minced) 1 whole
  • Old Bay seasoning 2 tablespoons
  • Cajun seasoning 2 tablespoons
  • Lemon pepper seasoning 2 tablespoons
  • Paprika 2 tablespoons
  • Cayenne pepper (adjust according to your heat preference) 1 tablespoon
  • Hot sauce 1 tablespoon
  • Worcestershire sauce 1 tablespoon
  • Apple cider vinegar 1 tablespoon
  • Dried thyme 2 teaspoons
  • Dried oregano 2 teaspoons
  • Brown sugar 2 teaspoons
  • Lemons (juiced) 2
  • Chicken broth (adjust for desired consistency) 1-2 cups
  • Freshly chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Start by melting butter in your pot over medium heat.
  • As the butter melts, introduce your diced onions and minced garlic into the pot. Allow them to sauté until they turn fragrant and acquire a golden hue.
  • Now, add all your seasonings to the pot: Old Bay, Cajun seasoning, lemon pepper, paprika, cayenne pepper, dried thyme, and dried oregano. Stir well to mix.
  • Add the hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, and brown sugar into the pot. Stir everything well.
  • Next, pour in the fresh lemon juice and chicken broth. Let the mixture simmer for about 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to coalesce wonderfully.
  • For a smoother texture, strain the sauce to discard any solids. If you prefer a chunkier consistency, you can skip this step.
  • Garnish your Bloves sauce with freshly chopped parsley and it's ready to serve!

Notes

  • While the original Bloves sauce recipe is absolutely delightful, you can customize it to suit your taste buds. If you're not a fan of heat, reduce the amount of cayenne pepper.
  • Want a vegan version? Swap out the butter for a plant-based alternative and use vegetable broth instead of chicken broth.
  • And for an added burst of flavor, consider adding a splash of beer or white wine to the sauce during the simmering process.
