Equipment

  • Food processor or blender
  • Rubber spatula
  • Airtight storage container
  • Bowl
  • Strainer
  • Knife
  • Cutting Board

Ingredients

  • Dried chipotle peppers 10
  • Boiling water 2 cups
  • Cloves garlic 3
  • Salt 1 teaspoon
  • Apple cider vinegar 1 teaspoon

Instructions

  • Begin by placing the dried chipotle peppers in a bowl.
  • Douse the peppers with boiling water, allowing them to rest and soften for roughly half an hour.
  • Once softened, drain the peppers and remove the stems.
  • In a blender or food processor, combine the chipotle peppers, garlic, salt, and apple cider vinegar.
  • Process in a blender until you achieve a silky, homogenized texture.
  • Transfer the Chipotle Pepper concoction into a sealable container and keep chilled.

Notes

  • Should the blend be overly viscous, incorporate water, a tablespoon at a time, until you reach your preferred texture.
  • Tailor the heat intensity by varying the number of chipotle peppers.
  • Try adding a teaspoon of honey for a sweet and smoky variation.
  • For convenient future use, freeze the puree in ice cube compartments.
  • Mix a spoonful of this puree into your favorite barbecue sauce for an extra layer of smoky goodness.
