Ingredients
  

  • All-purpose flour 4 ½ cups
  • Warm water 1 ½ cups
  • Cornmeal ½ cup
  • Vegetable oil ¼ cup
  • Sugar 1 tablespoon
  • Salt 1 tablespoon
  • Yeast 1 tablespoon

Instructions
 

  • Combine water, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl, stirring until the sugar and yeast dissolve. Give the mixture 5 minutes to sit.
  • Combine salt and 3 cups of flour with the mixture, and mix until smooth.
  • Add the oil and flour to the mixture, and mix until the dough forms and comes together.
  • On a floured surface, knead the dough for 10 minutes after turning it out of the bowl.
  • Transfer the kneaded dough to a greased bowl, cover it, and leave it to rise in a warm place for approximately 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  • Knock back the dough and transfer it onto a floured surface.
  • Divide the dough into 12 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and shape it into a small loaf.
  • Grease a baking sheet and place the knots on it, then dust them with cornmeal. Allow the knots to rest for 30 minutes until they have risen.
  • Set the oven to 400 degrees and bake the bread for 20 to 25 minutes, or until it turns golden brown.
