Ingredients

  • San giorgio lasagna (uncooked pasta) 16 pieces
  • Ground beef 1 pound
  • Ricotta cheese 4 cups
  • Spaghetti sauce 3 cups
  • Grated mozzarella cheese 2 cups
  • Grated parmesan cheese ¼ cup
  • Fresh parsley (chopped) 1 tablespoon
  • Salt 1 teaspoon
  • Ground black pepper ¼ teaspoon
  • Eggs 2

Instructions

  • Ensure that your oven is preheated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit before starting.
  • Brown ground beef over medium heat in a large skillet. Add spaghetti sauce and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until heated through.
  • In a separate medium skillet, cook the pasta following the instructions on the package, then drain and spread on a flat surface to cool down.
  • Mix together the ricotta cheese, 1 ½ cups mozzarella cheese, and parmesan cheese in a large bowl. Add the eggs and parsley, and season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Evenly distribute ⅓ cup of meat sauce across the bottom of a 13x9x2-inch glass baking dish. Place pasta over the sauce, making sure to overlap the edges.
  • Evenly distribute one-third of the cheese mixture over the pasta layer, followed by ¾ cup of meat sauce. Repeat this process two more times, starting and ending with a layer of pasta.
  • To finish the dish, layer the remaining meat sauce on top of the pasta and spread it evenly. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese over the top and, if desired, add some additional parmesan cheese.
  • Cover the dish tightly with foil before placing it in the oven.
  • Place the dish in the oven, and bake for about 45 minutes until the sauce is hot and bubbly.
  • After the first 10 minutes of baking, remove the foil and bake until the top is lightly browned.
  • Allow the baked dish to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
  • Use a sharp knife to portion your mouth-watering lasagna into desired slices.
