Over medium heat, heat oil in a large saucepan.
Add the kielbasa pieces and chopped onion to the pan, and cook them over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Keep cooking until the kielbasa starts to turn brown and the onions become translucent, which should take about 6 to 8 minutes. Once done, remove them from the pan and set them aside on a plate.
Now it's time to add the broth, turnip greens, beans, garlic powder, hot pepper sauce, soup mix, salt, creole seasoning, and pepper to the saucepan. Stir everything together and bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
Next, add the cooked kielbasa and onion mixture back into the saucepan with the other ingredients. Reduce the heat to medium-low, so that the mixture simmers gently. Cover the pan with a lid and let it cook for 2 hours.
Remember to check the pan occasionally to make sure it doesn't boil over and stir the mixture to ensure that everything cooks evenly.
Serve the soup alongside the fresh cornbread and enjoy!
